Akaroa - Twin Gullies New Zealand
Akaroa Harbour from our verandah
Bed and Breakfast in Canterbury, New Zealand
Property Description
Just off the main Akaroa highway and down a driveway, Twin Gullies lies nestled amongst bush, an orchard, paddocks and garden in its own secluded five acre little world.
With its original farm cottage and converted out buildings dating back to the early 1880s, Twin Gullies offers two choices of self contained loft accommodation.
From the upstairs bedrooms of the Stable and the Barn you have spectacular views across the garden and rolling farmland, on to Barrys Bay and Onawe Peninsula and out to the Akaroa Heads.
As keen restorers of old buildings and lovers of Banks Peninsula, hosts Victoria and Doug are realising a long held dream with their adopted rural lifestyle which they are eager to share with both local and overseas visitors.
Although guests have complete privacy, the whole property, which is constantly being improved, is there to explore and enjoy. While the more energetic are keen to investigate the whole area, others are content to breathe the country air and take in the view from a seat in the garden.
Because of its position at the head of the harbour, Twin Gullies is ideally situated for you to enjoy all that the Akaroa area has to offer.
Local Area InformationDuring summer, there is good swimming at both Wainui and Tikao Bay.
Okains Bay has an excellent colonial museum and a lovely white sand beach.
Also close by is an excellent golf course and club hire can be easily arranged.
If you fancy a quiet drink or nice café style meal, the Duvauchelle Hotel is only two minutes away, or you could head round to The French Farm Winery for a special lunch.
Only 12 minutes away, Akaroa offers all sorts of attractions.
It has a variety of gift shops, galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants.
There is also a great museum, bank, bakery, chemist, supermarket and intriguing old General Store.
