In 5 minutes driving south you'll be in the town of Augusta (Sicilian: Austa; Greek and Latin: Megara Hyblaea; Medieval: Augusta and Agosta) where you can still admire the Svevian Castle or taste the arab like atmosphere of the local market (Tuesdays 7-13), shop in via Principe Umberto (daily 10-13 17-20), visit the several churches.
At night you can drive 5 minutes north to Brucoli a small village well known for its touristic attractiveness that has not missed its first nature of fishermens village. Brucoli is characterized by a long natural fjord a Norman Castle, restaurants and pubs.
