Within a mile or two are Ulphas shop and post office the Newfield pub famed for its fillet steaks and its bridge over the river Duddon popular for swimming and paddling The Georgian town of BroughtoninFurness is just a few miles away here you will find butcher baker grocer a few pubs a couple of cafes and a lovely atmosphere If youre looking for a bit of life before escaping back to the rural calm of Chapel Cottage then Coniston with its lake and bustling centre is a fifteen minute drive away The coastal town of Ulverston is also about twenty minutes away
