Property Description

Traditional miners cottage with country views built circa 1860, opposite the owners own home in quiet village overlooking fields. Good dog walking.
Ideal centre for Durham World Heritage Site, Dales, N. Yorkshire & North East England.
The house is fully double glazed, has good loft insulation and is carpeted throughout.
Central heating is by gas-fired hot water radiators with thermostatic valves in each room and a room thermostat in the lounge.
All rooms have been furnished to provide comfort for guests.
The two bedrooms and bathroom are situated on the first floor.
The kitchen/diner and lounge are situated on the ground floor
The front entrance is via a double glazed porch with coat rack.

The main bedroom has one double bed and one single bed, built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers, & bedside tables.
The smaller bedroom has two single beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers & bedside table.
Two additional single folding beds are available at extra cost.
All linen, bedding, towels, etc. are provided in the hire costs.
The bathroom has bath, shower, toilet & washbasin.

The large lounge is equipped with a gas fire, TV, VHS video, a large coffee table, a small coffee table and a writing desk. A radio/tape/CD player is also provided. Sofas provide comfortable seating, with a chair for the writing desk.
There is a range of books, games etc. and tourist information provided.

The dining area has an extending table & chairs for up to 5 persons.
The kitchen has a gas hob and electric grill/oven, fridge/freezer, micro-wave, toaster, kettle and auto-washing machine/dryer, with ample storage units plus a large storage cupboard with shelving.
A vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board are provided.
The kitchen/diner overlooks and has access to the patio area, and rear entrance. FIVE GABLES COTTAGE IS NON-SMOKING

is an ideal centre for touring being 15 minutes from Durham City Durham University and the World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle.

We are also 1½ hrs from York, 1½ hrs from the Lake District and the Scottish Borders and less than 3 hrs from Edinburgh.

A good bus service is available 300m from FIVE GABLES serving:
